Php18 Million shabu accomplishment

Camp Francisco U. Sumagaysay, Sr., STA. BARBARA, ILOILO, January 30 -- An estimated 18 million pesos worth of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu was recovered from a notorious drug pusher in Dumangas, Iloilo.

Operating elements led by Iloilo PPO together with Negros Occidental PPO, PDEA6 and PCG conducted a buy-bust operation against Jose Alberto Pinaga, 32 years old and a native of Mabulac, Silay City Negros Occidental.  Also arrested is his live-in partner Maebelle Belmonte, 30 years of the same address.

Pinaga and Belmonte were on board a rented vehicle together with their minor child and were in transit from Batangas to Caticlan via RoRo and about to board another vessel bound for Negros Occidental when the operating elements conducted the operation at 8:30 pm of January 28, 2018.

Recovered are the two sachets of suspected shabu which were subjects of the buybust operation and an additional two small sachets and one big pack containing approximately one kilogram of shabu.

The total recoveries have an estimated value of 18 million pesos and are believed to come from Luzon where Pinaga gets his supply.

During the tactical interrogation, subject Pinaga divulged the identity of his contact in Negros Occidental which led to the follow-up operation conducted by NOCPPO.

During the follow-up operation in Mandalagan, Bacolod City is Corazon Vergel, a senior citizen also notoriously engaged in peddling illegal drugs.  Recovered from Vergel is an estimated 180,000.00 worth of illegal drugs.

All three arrested suspects are facing cases for violation of sections 5, 6 and 26 of RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.
