W. Visayas’ 4th most wanted person killed in a shootout

     Camp Francisco U. Sumagaysay Sr, STA. BARBARA, Iloilo, Jan 26 - - The fourth most wanted person in Western Visayas was killed in a shootout with operatives of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office in Acuit village of Barotac Nuevo on January 26, 2015.

     Suspect Rolando Magno alias Totong, the leader of the Magno Criminal Gang and Richard “Kabal” Caborubias, both residents of Sagrada Familia village in Dumarao, Capiz were killed following aN operation by the Intelligence Branch of the Iloilo Provincial Police Office (IPPO), 3rd Maneuver Platoon, Iloilo Provincial Public Safety Company and the Barotac Nuevo Municipal Police Station.

     Magno was the leader of a group victimizing businessmen in the municipality of Barotac Nuevo and in neighboring towns of Iloilo.

     They were also reportedly employed as private armed groups of local politicians.

     They were likewise tagged as behind the ambush slay case of Jun Apura, husband of Mayor Ligaya Apura of the municipality of Lemery, Iloilo and his driver, Rodel Erat Lope last May 2013 before the national election.

     Said suspects have several pending Warrants of Arrest including two counts of murder, frustrated murder, attempted murder and highway robbery.

     Police operatives recovered from the suspects two caliber .45 pistols and three hand grenades. (30)
