2 Policemen, 2 Brgy. Kagawads and 76 others face case for Comelec Gun Ban violation

Camp Francisco U. Sumagaysay, Sr., STA. BARBARA, ILOILO, April 19 --  Seventy-one gun ban violators are currently facing charges for violations set by the Commission on Elections since the start of election period.

From January 10 to April 15 this year, two police officers, two barangay kagawads and sixty-seven others were arrested by police officers of Iloilo Police Provincial Office and the confiscation of sixty-seven assorted firearms, 5 grenades, four bladed weapons and 363 assorted ammunition for violation of Comelec Resolution No. 10015.

PO2 Jessie Marabi of IPPO and PO1 Cyrus Gayongorsa of ICPO added to the statistics with respective administrative case filed by the PNP, while Brgy. Kagawads Jessie Narciso and Cristina Ecleo were separately arrested in Concepcion, Iloilo by Special Operating Unit 3 under Oplan Lambat Sibat.

“The IPPO, COMELEC & other partner agencies are on high gear with regard to the conduct of peaceful and orderly election in the province and we will see to it that the electoral process will not be disrupted in any way by unscrupulous individuals “

Records from Jan 10 – March 15, 2016 registered 59 cases filed against gun ban violators, while 89 cases were filed from Jan 10 – April 15, 2016 or 51% increase of arrested violators in a month-long period.#
