Ilonggos Run Against Illegal Drugs (IRAID)

Camp Francisco U. Sumagaysay Sr, STA. BARBARA, Iloilo—The Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) has gone massive in its drive against illegal drugs highlighted by its Ilonggos Run Against Illegal Drugs (IRAID) project.

IRAID was inspired by the success of the Run Against Illegal Drugs (RAID) campaign of the New Lucena Municipal Police Station (MPS) that was enhanced and implemented in different towns of Iloilo as part of the post-operation phase of Oplan Walis Droga.

Oplan Walis Droga, just like any other anti-illegal drugs campaign is divided into three phases: pre-operation, operation and post operation phase.

Since there is already compliance on the pre-operation and operation phases, there is a need to conceptualize activities to support the post-operation phase.  Such activities include sports events, symposia and other related events.

IRAID engaged the cooperation of all stakeholders for an effective and efficient anti-illegal drug campaign with the Provincial Anti-Illegal Drugs Special Operations Task Group (PAIDSOTG) of the IPPO taking the lead.

The IRAID that was first held in New Lucena was aimed at raising funds to support the post-operation activities of the New Lucena MPS.  These activities include procurement of sports equipment to be donated to youth organizations and schools.

To date 11 towns have already embraced the IRAID to include Lambunao, Ajuy, Duenas, Passi City, Dumangas, Alimodian and Concepcion, Tubungan, Lemery and Pototan and New Lucena.

Meantime, IPPO’s OPLAN Walis Droga paved way for a more comprehensive and stronger battle against illegal drugs in the province. IPPO leads the conduct of symposium, drug awareness campaigns and other initiatives participated by students and people in the community. (30)
